Dear Shorefield Country Park Ambassadors,

Discover the Best of the New Forest This Summer

Summer is in full swing, and there's no better time to get out and explore everything the beautiful New Forest has to offer. Whether you're planning a family day out, catching up with friends, or simply looking to enjoy the fresh air, there's plenty happening throughout August and into early September.

Explore the New Forest

Late summer is one of the most beautiful times of year to visit the New Forest. Wander through open heathland as the vibrant purple heather comes into bloom, keep an eye out for the famous free-roaming ponies, and discover miles of picturesque walking and cycling routes through ancient woodland and charming villages.

Perfect Picnic Spots

Pack up your favourite treats, grab a blanket and make the most of the summer sunshine at one of these beautiful New Forest picnic spots.

  • Bolderwood Deer Sanctuary - One of the New Forest's most popular beauty spots, Bolderwood offers peaceful woodland walks, a large picnic area and the chance to spot wild fallow deer from the famous viewing platform.

  • Blackwater Arboretum - Home to an impressive collection of trees from around the world, Blackwater Arboretum is a tranquil spot with easy walking trails, shady picnic areas and beautiful scenery that's especially lovely in late summer.

  • Bolton's Bench, Lyndhurst- Overlooking the open heathland, Bolton's Bench is a fantastic place to relax while watching the famous New Forest ponies and cattle roam freely. It's also just a short stroll from the cafés and independent shops in Lyndhurst.

  • Hatchet Pond, Beaulieu - The largest freshwater lake in the New Forest, Hatchet Pond is perfect for a peaceful picnic with scenic waterside views. Keep an eye out for birdlife, enjoy a gentle stroll around the shoreline and soak up the peaceful surroundings.

Each offers stunning scenery, peaceful surroundings and the perfect place to relax on a sunny afternoon.
