Our Guide To Buying

How to buy a holiday home in Dorset or the New Forest

Many of us dream of owning a holiday home, your very own place to retreat in the country or relax near the coast, but buying a holiday home is a big decision. You may have many questions about how to buy a holiday home. We understand this can seem daunting and there are many factors you should consider before committing to a purchase. If you're thinking of starting your ownership journey, here are some decisions you need to make to ensure you make the right choice.

Six Steps to Ownership

Step 1: Which park is for me?

Do you love Dorset's coast and want to be close to beautiful beaches?

Or do you dream of a countryside location in the New Forest?

Well we have got it all. A holiday home on one of our exclusive parks will offer everything that there is to love about the south coast.

Whether you want activities for the whole family or just want a little peace and quiet to relax and unwind in, our distinctively unique parks offer something for everyone.

Step 2: Be an owner for a day

Is the holiday home lifestyle right for you?

Bring the whole family along on a park visit to experience our ownership lifestyle. Choose your award-winning park holiday home location.

From small, quiet rural parks to family & pet friendly parks with 5-star facilities & entertainment.

You can see all six parks in one day, so why not make a day of it, we'll even treat you to lunch!

Or get the full ownership experience with a try before you buy overnight stay!

Step 3: Costs to consider

Are there finance options available?

There are no mortgages available for these types of holiday homes, but we use specialised funding from Blackhorse so you can choose to spread the costs into affordable monthly payments. Our deposits are 20% of the value of the holiday home.

Are there any other expenses?

As with owning any home, there are running costs. Site fees depend on your park location and vary from park to park. They not only cover your refuse collection, park upkeep, maintenance & security, but your entrance to all the park venues and facilities.

Step 4: Find your pitch

Which area of the park would best suit my needs?

Decisions, decisions? Whether you prefer a quieter life perhaps in a quiet cul-de-sac, being close to the facilities for a bit of a buzz, or on one of our exclusive developments.

Can we choose the holiday home pitch on the park?

Subject to availability yes! But some plots do have differing site fees, but we’ve got something for everyone. Most of our pitches have allocated parking, piped mains gas and the neighbours are pretty friendly too!

Step 5: Lodge or caravan?

What type of holiday homes do you have available to buy?

Be it a caravan or lodge, new or pre-loved, you will be amazed at the standard of finish. Our holiday homes are beautifully decorated & equipped with luxury furnishings, stylish fixtures, fittings & modern appliances all included in the price.

Considering what your holiday home will be used for and by who plays a part in deciding what you might want. Of course, your preferred budgets will also play a part.

The hardest decision will be which one to choose.

Frequently Asked Questions

I am interested in purchasing a Shorefield holiday home but unsure on which park?

To help narrow down your choice please visit our holiday home ownership locations page, where you can see what each park has to offer or get in touch using our quick enquiry form.

How long can I stay on park for?

Our Merley Court park now offers Residential Licences, so if you are looking for a park home that you can live in all year round, please get in touch here

All our other parks have holiday park licences, therefore they cannot be used to live on (Residential), but you can mainly come and go as and when you like during the 10 - 11 months (depending on the park) we are open. Our parks are subject to a 56 day maximum length of stay, with at least 7 days where you will need to be off park prior to returning. Typically, our parks are closed early January to early February.

I am interested in finding more out about owning a holiday home and wanted to drop by one of the parks sometime?

Sure thing! You can either fill out this form or call our office on 0800 214080 to arrange a visit. We are currently only accepting visits by appointment only, in order to manage numbers and help us keep you safe whilst social distancing. We kindly ask that as per Government guidelines you ensure that face coverings are worn whilst in our ownership offices and on your park tour. You can find out more details on all our ownership locations and available holiday homes on our About Ownership page.

Can my family and friends come and visit?

We find that more and more purchasers now are not just only thinking of how the holiday park could work for them but also for their children, grandkids and friends. You will receive Ownership passes that can be allocated to these so they can either come and visit you when you are at your holiday home or use it when you are busy and cannot make it down.
