A Friendly Reminder During the Warm Weather

Help protect your four-legged friend during hot weather with our simple summer safety advice. Find out why dogs should never be left unattended in holiday homes, lodges or caravans, plus tips on keeping them cool, comfortable and safe throughout your stay.

The Shorefield Holidays Team

Dear Ambassadors,

With the recent spell of hot weather, we'd like to kindly remind everyone not to leave dogs unattended in holiday homes, lodges or caravans, even for a short period of time.

Temperatures inside holiday accommodation can rise incredibly quickly, even with windows open, creating dangerous conditions for our four-legged friends. Dogs can become distressed or suffer from heatstroke in a very short space of time.

If you need to pop out, please take your dog with you wherever possible, or ensure someone stays with them in a cool, well-ventilated environment.

To help keep your dog comfortable during the warmer weather:

  • Make sure they always have access to plenty of fresh drinking water.

  • Keep them in the shade or indoors with good ventilation.

  • Walk them during the cooler parts of the day, such as early morning or late evening.

  • Watch for signs of overheating, including excessive panting, lethargy, drooling or difficulty breathing. If you're unsure what to look out for or what to do, the RSPCA has some helpful advice on recognising and treating heatstroke in dogs: RSPCA Heatstroke Advice

Thank you for helping us keep all our furry visitors safe and comfortable during the hot weather. We hope you and your four-legged companions continue to enjoy your time at the park.

Kind regards,

The Shorefield Holidays Team
