September Events
Chloe, your housekeeping senior at Oakdene, has been busy putting together a list of some events that are on in the area during September.

- Dorset County Show, near Dorchester – 7th-8th September 2024. For over 175 years the Dorchester Agricultural Society has celebrated Dorset’s rural roots with an annual show dedicated to farming, local produce, and country life.
- Swanage Folk Festival – 6th-8th September 2024. A weekend of concerts, workshops, and traditional dance displays – including Morris dancing.
- SEAFEAST Dorset Seafood Festival, Weymouth – 7-8 September 2024. A celebration of local seafood and other produce, with stalls in the Pavilion carpark at the start of Weymouth Harbour.
- Sturminster Newton Cheese Festival – 14th-15th September 2024. A celebration of cheese, held in the hometown of the famous Dorset Blue Vinney cheese.
- Purbeck WALX festival – 9th-15th September 2024. Formerly the Purbeck Nordic Walking Festival, this event offers hundreds of walks to suit all levels in iconic locations along the Jurassic Coast.
- Southampton International Boat Show - 13th - 22nd September 2024
- The Planetarium Experience, - 13th September. Winchester Science Centre, Winchester, Hampshire. Zoom through the stars on an exciting flight through the solar system. Take a seat in the breath-taking Planetarium and discover the secrets of the skies above us during a presenter-led live show.
- Heritage Open Days, until – Sun 17 September, various locations, Hampshire Find loads of special events, free access and plenty of heritage fun this month in Hampshire. Browse the site for a full list of locations, from Jane Austen’s House to Pimm's and Hymns at All Saints Church, Basingstoke, the MOD’s former 24-foot Wind Tunnel Building at Farnborough, choir practice in Winchester and foodie talks on spices and coffee at the Honesty Cookery School near Newbury.

- The Breamore Country Fair, Sat 23 September, Breamore House, near Fordingbridge
- Pop Up Unwrapped, Sat 23 Sept, The Cricket Field by Abbey Hall, Netley Abbey. A mini version of the Unwrapped Festival, a summer highlight from The Point Theatre Eastleigh and Berry Theatre Hedge End, this free family festival is sure to be a hit with the kids. Let them get stuck in with craft activities, chase around with bubble entertainment from Squidge and Pop, be wowed by the ORB Youth Dance Company and sing along with Sophie Ross, host of The Point’s Wonder Gigs for babies and toddlers.
- The Early Early Christmas Fair, Tues 26 – Wed 27 Sept, The Polo Ground, Tedworth Park, Tidworth, near Andover. Too soon for the C-word? Hold on there. Browse the wares of over 120 indie traders, including everything from handbags to homeware, posh smellies and olive oil, jewellery and gadgets at this early (early!) fundraising Christmas shopping event.
