Dorset Camping & Touring On The Jurassic Coast
Swanage Coastal Park, one of our two sites in Dorset, is the quietest park which we have to offer, and the ideal location for either a camping or touring holiday by the sea.
Set in a beautiful spot on the Dorset coast, with the beaches of Studland and Swanage close by, Swanage Coastal Park is the perfect campsite to explore some of the South’s most celebrated seaside locations, as well as the famous Jurassic Coast.
The hillside location of this park, just above the town itself, means that all of our pitches here offer stunning views over the Bay, as well as across the Purbeck Hills; even Corfe Castle itself is visible on a clear day.
From the Coastal Heights campsite on this park, our guests have direct access onto a series of fantastic cliffside walks, which mark the starting point of the Jurassic Coast.
Otherwise, if you’re looking for somewhere to enjoy good food and drink, there’s more than enough on offer in the town centre, which is a short walk away.
Dogs are permitted at Swanage Coastal Park, provided they are will behaved and kept on a lead whilst on the park.
We have deliberately opted not to build any bar or club facilities at Swanage Coastal Park, in order to retain the area’s tranquil and natural atmosphere. However, guests are able to use the facilities at a neighbouring park for an additional cost.
Facilities at Swanage
Swanage Coastal Park is all about exploring, a friendly welcome and views that will take your breath away. The park is home to some of the most spectacular views in the UK overlooking Swanage Bay. With plenty of walkways, cycling routes and hiking trails we encourage you to explore the Jurassic Coastline and take in all its beauty.
The facilities on park complement the tranquil nature of the park, with a play park, a toilet and shower block, launderette and a welcoming smile from the park team in reception, where Wi-Fi is available.
Pitch Types at Swanage
Our Serviced camping pitches are set on a level grass terrain, and are ideal for either tents or small camper vans. Additionally, you’ll have an electric hook up, as well as some stunning views. If you’re looking for an added level of comfort from your next camping holiday, our glamping pod is the accommodation for you.
During the summer months standard camping pitches are set upon a gently sloping field at the top of the hill above the park, providing fantastic views over the Purbeck hills and across Swanage Bay. These simple, informal camping pitches can be found during the school summer holidays, and do not come with access to an electric hook-up. Our Park Map displays the location of pitches and see the tariifs
To allow Swanage Coastal Park keep the theme of exploration, for a small fee, the park next door offers guests at Swanage Coastal Park access to their facilities. This includes a large indoor tropical heated swimming pool suitable for both children and adults.
A 15 minute stroll with spectacular views will bring you to Swanage town centre. Here you will find award winning restaurants and bars to suit all tastes.
Corfe Castle is just a short drive away which also has a variety of dinning options with views of Corfe Castle itself and the surrounding area.
Great Days Out
There’s 95 miles of coastal paths to explore on your doorstep, as well as Corfe Castle, the Swanage Steam Railway and Durlston Country Park all in close proximity.
What’s more, as well as the numerous local beaches and the attractions of Swanage itself, Weymouth’s Sea life Centre and Monkey World, not to mention Poole, Sandbanks and Bournemouth are all easily accessible via a chain link ferry. Take a look at some of our favourites.
Swanage Town offers a vast variety of entertainment for everyone. From the Swanage Blues Festival to Tankfest there is always lots of fun and interesting events to attend. Swanage Coastal Park offers the perfect location and accommodation to explore all these events. Some of our favorite attractions can be seen here.
Read our Explore and Enjoy section for information on all attractions, festivals and all the local events Swanage has to offer and what we best recommend.
