Shorefield Holidays

If you’re planning a stay at one of our Shorefield Holiday Parks and love to unwind with a round of golf, you’re in for a treat. The surrounding Hampshire and Dorset countryside is home to some of the UK’s most scenic and rewarding golf courses — from classic coastal links to peaceful heathland fairways set in the heart of the New Forest.

Whether you’re a seasoned golfer or just looking to enjoy a relaxing round while on holiday, there’s a course nearby to suit every style of play.

Stunning South Coast Golf

The south coast offers a fantastic mix of golfing experiences. Around Bournemouth, three of the region’s most highly rated courses — Parkstone Golf Club, Ferndown Golf Club, and Broadstone Golf Club — are often listed among the best in the UK. Each offers beautifully maintained greens, thoughtful layouts, and a warm Dorset welcome.

Closer to our parks, Barton-on-Sea Golf Club is a must-play for many visitors. Just a short drive from Shorefield Country Park, this classic cliff-top course combines stunning sea views with a challenging “links-style” design that will test every aspect of your game. On a clear day, you can enjoy panoramic views across the Solent towards the Isle of Wight — one of the most scenic backdrops you’ll find anywhere in English golf.

Great Golf, Whatever Your Handicap

If you prefer a more relaxed round or want to squeeze in a quick nine holes while the family enjoy the pool or spa, there are plenty of welcoming pay-and-play courses around our Hampshire and Dorset parks.

The New Forest Golf Club, on the outskirts of Lyndhurst, is one of Hampshire’s oldest golf clubs and is set in an area of outstanding natural beauty. Surrounded by ancient woodland and free-roaming New Forest ponies, it’s a truly unique setting and a wonderful way to experience this iconic landscape.

Our Recommendations

1. Barton-on-Sea Golf Club

Founded in 1897, Barton-on-Sea offers 27 holes of coastal golf between Highcliffe and Milford-on-Sea. The current layout blends Harry Colt’s 1932 design with additional holes by course architect J. Hamilton Stutt. Expect coastal breezes, fast-running fairways, and unforgettable views.

2. Isle of Purbeck Golf Club

A true Dorset classic, the Isle of Purbeck Golf Club dates back to 1892 and offers sweeping views across Poole Harbour and the Purbeck Hills. Once owned by author Enid Blyton and her husband, it’s a traditional heathland course set within a protected nature reserve.

3. The New Forest Golf Club

Located near Lyndhurst, this historic course is laid out on open heathland in the heart of the New Forest National Park. It’s peaceful, scenic, and full of character — a great choice for golfers who enjoy natural, traditional layouts.

4. Knighton Heath Golf Club

Set beside Canford Heath, this classic heathland course offers a fair but firm test for golfers of all abilities. With tree-lined fairways and consistently excellent greens, it’s one of Dorset’s best-kept golfing secrets.
