October Half Term is one of our favourite times of year. As the leaves turn golden the stage is set for a fang-tastic array of Halloween events. We've put together our top picks of things taking place this year throughout Hampshire & Dorset, so you're in the know...

Torment: Live Scare Attraction | Gunwharf Guays | 20th - 29th October


Cost: £10 per person

Ages: 13 and over only

Torment is a live immersive walkthorough in Portsmouth and is the first attraction of its kind on the South Coast. Are you brave enough to venture through the Victorian themed manor house and see if you make it out alive? It's great for an evening of scares and we'd recommend this as a group or even as a family but be warned, it's not for the faint-hearted!

Boo At The Zoo! | Marwell Zoo | 21st - 29th October


Cost: From £13.62 for entry to the Zoo

Ages: All welcome!

Marwell Zoo are hosting a scarily good week of activities throughout half term. Dress up in your best Halloween fancy dress costume and take part in the spooky shenanigans, including storytelling and broomstick flying lessons. There's even optional extras to take part in, such as stopping by the Pumpkin Patch to carve your very own pumpkin to take home, face painting and magic wand making. Southbourne's Frankfest | Bournemouth | Saturday 28th October


Cost: Free to attend

Ages: All welcome!

Head down to Southbourne in Bournemouth for Southbourne's Frankfest, a family friendly event taking place throughout the whole day. Here you can expect parades, best dressed competitions and live demonstrations. There will also be the opportunity to carve your own pumpkin!

Day of the Dead Festival | Metropole Market | Sunday 29th October


Cost: Free entry

Ages: All welcome!

This year, Day of the Dead is coming to Bournemouth! Head over to Metropole Market on the 29th for the Day of the Dead themed celebrations, but don't forget to get dressed up for the occasion as there will be prizes for the Best Dressed! Traditionally celebrated in Mexico, this is set to be a fantastic family-friendly adaption of the event on the coast with an eclectic mix of entertainers to keep the good vibes going. Join in the fun from 10am until 4pm.

Halloween at Oakdene Forest Park | 25th - 31st October


As always, there's a fantastic Halloween entertainment programme for our guests at Oakdene Forest Park. There's something on every day of the week, but if you're looking for fang-tastic themed events join us (if you dare) on Wednesday 25th, Saturday 28th and Tuesday 31st October. There will be the likes of:

  • Trick or Treating with the Entertainments Team
  • Family Zombie Run
  • Best Dressed Table Competitions
  • Halloween Showtimes with House of Strange
  • Fancy Dress Competitions (for the big kids as well as the little ones)

Halloween at Shorefield Country Park | 24th - 31st October


Of course, there's lots going on at Shorefield Country Park this Halloween too and the Entertainment Team always look forward to this time of year! Spooky-themed activities take place on Saturday 21st, Tuesday 24th, Saturday 28th and Tuesday 31st October and you can expect:

  • Fancy Dress Competitions (not just for the kids!)
