Year in Review - A roundup of 2017 at Shorefield Holidays

28th December 2017

As 2017 draws to an end, its time to look back at our most memorable highlights and some of the changes that have taken place throughout the year here at Shorefield Holidays.

January | New Caravans

January saw a huge investment in new accommodation at Shorefield Country Park, with all our Supreme and Sensation caravans being replaced and updated with new models. This means that all of our caravans at this park are currently less than a year old!

February | Pat The Pony

In February we welcomed a new addition to the Shorefield Family… Pat the Pony! His first performances went down a hit, alongside the launch of our new entertainment calendar which saw us introduce entertainment on every day of the year that the park is open to guests.

March | Lodge Refurbishments

March marked the completion of the refurbishment of our Superior hot tub lodges at Shorefield Country Park and Oakdene Forest Park. With fresh new interiors the renovations were a welcome change for all our guests.

April | New Play Park & Facilities

April saw the grand opening of our brand new play park at Shorefield Country Park. With brand new swings, climbing frames and slides we’re sure it’s already put smiles on many faces.

In April Merley Court Holiday Park also opened its brand new spa, restaurant, bar and lounge facilities ready for the summer holiday season.

May | New gym equipment, outdoor seating area and 7th Park

It was an exciting May, as we announced the acquisition of a new site on the edge of the New Forest, to add to our six existing parks. Sitting between the beautiful national park and the beach at Milford-on-Sea, the new park, which will be exclusively for owners, underlines our strategy for growth as we move forward.

Ongoing investment also saw new gym equipment installed at both Shorefield Country Park and Oakdene Forest Park in May, as well as a brand new decked outdoor seating area introduced at Oakdene.

August | We sponsored Bournemouth Air Festival

In August we were proud to once again sponsor the incredible Bournemouth Air Festival with Wave 105. Whilst at the show we also unveiled one of the latest Regal Holiday Homes making its way to our parks and for the first time ever, Cyril & Cybil took to the stage on the beach.

September | Double Award Winners

September saw us pick up two prestigious awards. Our Finance Director, Sara Bertin, was named Board Level and Senior Executive of the Year at the prestigious Women in Business Awards, and Shorefield Holidays was awarded Gold in the David Bellamy Conservation Award Scheme, which are described as the ‘Green Olympics’ for holiday parks and campsites. Alongside this, Shorefield Country Park was awarded the scheme’s Honey Bee Pledge for its dedication to preserving Britain’s bees.

November | Yet More Awards

The year ended in style, with two further awards. In November, Shorefield Country Park scooped a prestigious Diamond Award at the annual Hoseasons Conference, picking up the top award in the South of England Lodges and Parks category.

We were also recognised for our outstanding training and development opportunities at the Brilliance in Business Awards. We pride ourself on our innovative stance towards training staff and last year launched the Shorefield Training Academy designed to identify and develop the tourism and leisure ‘leaders of the future’.

December | We sponsored Santa's Grotto & Cash 4 Kids

In December, we offically sponsored the Santa’s Grotto at Bournemouth Christmas Market with our much-loved mascots Cyril, Cybil & Pat performing a number of shows throughout the festive period.

We were also thrilled to sponsor the Wave 105 Cash 4 Kids Mission Christmas, which aims to ensure all local children living in poverty have a present to open on Christmas Day. Not only were Oakdene Forest Park and Shorefield Country Park drop-off points for presents (and a HUGE thank you to everyone who donated!) but we were also able to personally donate several large sacks of toys to the cause.

We are sure you'll agree that 2017 has been an epic year here at Shorefield Holidays, and with 2018 marking our 60th anniversary as well as the opening of our seventh park, the future looks even more exciting for our family-run holiday company. Watch this space!
