New Year New Intentions
At Shorefield, we prefer to set New Year intentions, not resolutions. Whether that’s moving your body more, getting out more, saving for that special holiday, or prioritising regular mini breaks, across our eight parks we have loads to offer for the year ahead to meet all those new year goals.
In the current world we understand that we all need to remain adaptable and open minded, but we see no reason not to make plans with the days getting longer and 2022 looking like a brighter year ahead! There’s no denying the wonder of a weekend change of scenery and you don’t need to wait until school holidays, having things to look forward to are key to boosting your mood and there’s really no better way to do this than getting your dose of fresh air on our beautiful British coastline. In fact, research shows that a holiday can improve performance by 80%! So if the kids have got a big year at school, or you've got a lot on at work, consider a little escape to the stunning south coast to help you keep on top form!
Digital detox
Technology has no doubt been a lifeline throughout lockdowns, but it's also become a leash. We all need a digital detox and with stats predicting that the average adult in the UK will spend the equivalent of 34 years of their life staring at some form of screen, we encourage you to hit the reset switch with Shorefield Holidays, leave the devices safely at home, shut that home office door and focus on ‘being together’.
Of course, we understand that it’s not always possible to leave work behind, so escape the home office and switch up your scenery and routine - a great way to extend the traditional weekend getaway into a more leisurely ‘workscape’ or longer trip, either with your family, partner or friends.
Facilities & local activities
At Shorefield, we offer the very best of both sea and forest, encouraging our visitors to explore what’s on their doorstep. Our parks are an easy drive from either the beach or the unique New Forest National Park with its ancient, wild landscape and famous roaming ponies. Guests can cycle the trails of the New Forest and the Isle of Purbeck, walk down hidden pathways to the south coast, or use their time to get fit or learn a new activity and then come home to the comfort of their own lodge or holiday home.
Soak up on local history, explore the local wildlife, by the sea and the forest; being in nature vastly improves physical and mental wellbeing and across our eight parks, we have a whole host of fantastic facilities and local activities for you to get involved in.

‘Paw-fect’ staycations
As a nation of dog-loving staycationers, we have a range of dog-friendly facilities and accommodation across our parks, plus plenty of scenic places for 'walkies' locally.
Designated units across all our range of self-catering accommodation have pet-friendly options. So whether you're looking for a cosy caravan escape with your furry friend, or a luxury hot tub retreat, there's sure to be something to suit you and your pooch. We allow up to two dogs in all our pet-friendly holiday homes. These are deep cleaned prior to your arrival to ensure a fresh, welcoming environment for you and your pet.
At Oakdene Forest Park, the terrace makes for the ideal sun spot to unwind with your four-legged friend with complimentary doggy snacks and water bowls. Hurn Forest is also home to some fantastic woodland walks, just on the doorstep of your accommodation and accessible directly from the park!
At Shorefield Country Park, we have a range of facilities for pet owners. Our Milford Room is an indoor seating area where dogs are more than welcome. Just like our dog-friendly seating area at Oakdene, we’ll provide the water bowls and even a few dog biscuits for your furry friend. Plus, we will be opening a brand new outdoor terrace area, perfect for enjoying a drink or a bite to eat with your best friend.
If camping in the great outdoors is more your thing, Wilkworth Caravan Park in Dorset and Lytton Lawn Touring Park in Milford on Sea have a dog exercise paddock or dog walking field, respectively.
The miles of scenic coastline and New Forest landscapes on your doorstep make the ideal place for ‘walkies.’ If your dog loves nothing more than a splash in the sea and feeling the sand between its paws, you're spoilt for choice with dog-friendly beaches throughout Dorset & the New Forest.
The following beaches allow dogs:
- Milford on Sea Beach
- Bournemouth Beach - (Dogs can enjoy the beach freely from 1st October to the 30th April. Please note that dogs are restricted to certain areas from the 1st May and 30th September)
- Sandbanks - (Dogs permitted on the Western end of the beach to Haven Point)
- Swanage Beach - (Dogs can enjoy Swanage Beach from 1st October to the 30th April only. From the 1st May - 30th September pet owners are instead welcome to use 'Monkey Beach' which is located by the old stone quay, close to the pier).
