English Tourism Week 2023

Celebrating Amazing Experiences and Amazing People

Lead by VisitEngland, English Tourism Week celebrates our diverse, exuberant and exciting tourism sector.

The week is a celebration of all things tourism, showcasing the quality and vibrancy of the visitor experiences and the value our industry brings to our nation, with this year’s theme ‘celebrating amazing experiences and amazing people.’

Shorefield Holidays is a family run business of nine holiday and leisure parks based throughout Hampshire and Dorset, offering a vast range of services to visitors and local customers alike. The tourism sector within our localities reaches everyone, visitors, local residents and employees, as well as our local economy bringing thousands of people to the area.

Making up 80% of the UK’s visitor economy English tourism generates over £100 billion a year and is a major employer, supporting more than 2.6 million jobs nationwide, especially of school leavers and young people, this trend continues with English Tourism estimating that visitors in the UK will spend over £29.5 billion in 2023.

The Shorefield Group has over 2,000 pitches across its nine parks and more than 230 full-time employees – the majority of whom live within a 10-mile radius of each park and welcomes over 200,000 visitors to stay each year, including those that privately own, bringing valuable cross spend into surrounding local enterprises and businesses.

As part of English Tourism Week Shorefield Holidays hosted a visit from local MP Sir Desmond Swayne to the award-winning Shorefield Country Park, showcasing the diverse facilities and services as well as the multi-million pound investments made, improving guests experiences to ensure they stay at the forefront of the family holiday sector.

During his visit, Sir Desmond Swayne officially opened our new Downton development. After acquiring Downton Holiday Park in 2021, Shorefield Holidays have invested heavily, redeveloping 27 pitches with brand new hire fleet units, adding individual car parking spaces and improved underground services to each pitch. This year over £3 million has been spent on 96 new hire fleet units across all parks.

“It’s very impressive to see a local business having overcome all of the recent challenges, to be going forward, flourishing and continuing to invest in and adapt their offerings for the publics changing holiday habits and bringing thousands of visitors into our local area.” - Sir Desmond Swayne MP

Simon Pollock Chairman of Shorefield Holidays commented. 'I'm delighted that all of our local MPs recognise the vital role that Holiday Parks such as ours play in supporting the local economy and community.’

As our guests and holiday home owners evolve their holidaying habits, we must learn and grow with them and stay at the forefront of our industry. With our new Downton development open and the exciting renovation of the main complex at Shorefield Country Park, featuring a unique bespoke redesign throughout, coming very soon, we can’t wait to create more amazing experiences with amazing people.
