Enjoy an Autumn Escape to the South Coast
Plus if the MET Office and the weather presenters have got those forecasts correct with the heatwave too, there’s huge potential for late summer and early autumn to be one of the best times to come and visit our beautiful coastline or forest area. We’re also happy to bring further positive news as mental health experts say it’s good for us all to always have something to look forward to so as one holiday finishes, another break should be on the horizon - music to our ears!
Whether you’re looking for a long weekend escape or you’ve got the freedom to stay longer, we’ve got plenty of options to help extend that long-awaited holiday freedom feeling of 2021. For those who like a break full of outdoor activities and sights - how about kayaking, woodland adventure days, archery and more in the New Forest on the edge of Shorefield Country Park or Lytton Lawn Touring Park. Or how about grabbing some simple ‘vitamin sea’ with a bracing stroll along our beautiful coastlines. Across the south coast you can find a plethora of beaches offering sand, shingle and everything in between. So whether it’s buckets and spades, looking for creatures in those rock pools, grabbing a handful of pebbles for skimming or simply picking up the weekend papers to soak up that September sunshine, you can do that from Milford on Sea with its colourful beach huts and pebbled shores.
If soaking up the local culture and history is more your way to rest and rejuvenate away from normal life, there is Hurst Castle less than 10 minutes from your doorstep when staying at Shorefield or Lytton Lawn, or slightly further afield the National Motor Museum in Beaulieu, both fantastic family-friendly days out for all ages. Offering a more leisurely way of life is nearby is Barton-on-Sea golf course or a variety of river, sea or coarse fishing for the angler in you! Of course, by simply being on the doorstep of the New Forest, it means there is a different walk or cycle route in the forest for every day of the week, or running trails if you really want to stretch your legs! Whether you’re keeping the kids busy or want a chance to grab a digital detox, there are plenty of options for whatever constitutes a good weekend for you.
An added bonus is that our four-legged family members are also super welcome in our area. Local to Shorefield Country Park, Milford-on-Sea beach allows dogs to roam free. Meanwhile in Dorset, dogs are welcome on Swanage beach between 1st October – 30th April each year, and rules vary by location at Bournemouth beach so it's best to keep an eye out on those to stay updated with where and when dogs can roam free. There are plenty of pet-friendly options within all our self-catering accommodation, and we love to have your pets with us all year round!

Northern Soul and Motown Weekender - 24th & 25th September
