Stargazing Wonders Await
Interest in the night sky has skyrocketed recently, with the natural phenomenon of the aurora borealis being seen across the UK as well as the Perseid meteor shower.
Did you know, just 10 minutes from Swanage Coastal Park is Durlston Astronomy Center and Observatory. The observatory hosts a large aperture Meade telescope, among others, and regularly holds talks and stargazing events for the public. Visitors can expect talks from experts and the chance to observe the sky using various telescopes.
There is a small entrance fee of £4 with no need to book. The next events are:
- Saturday 31st August 8.30pm – Summer constellations and double stars
- Saturday 7th September 7.40 pm – Saturn and the autumn constellations
