Cheers to 50 Years!
This achievement is a testament to Simon's unwavering commitment, leadership, and dedication to his family business.
We began business in 1958 when Simon’s father, the late Dr. Robert Pollock, was unable to find a touring pitch for the family’s annual holiday and purchased a small caravan park at Milford on Sea. What started as a humble caravan park has since evolved into a thriving business with eight stunning parks situated along the South Coast of England, in Hampshire and Dorset.
Simon joined the company after leaving school in 1974, first joining at just 17 years old, and has worked across the business in a number of roles including hands-on involvement in expanding the parks as well as liaison in guest services.
He then took over as Chairman and Managing Director and has been pivotal in our success and expansion. Simon’s hands-on approach and commitment to innovation has kept us at the forefront of the holiday park industry, leading us to win numerous awards for excellence in customer service, hospitality, and sustainability. Recent additions to our Shorefield Holidays offer has included luxury treehouses and Shepherd Huts, dog friendly accommodation and the brand new, luxury development - Jubilee Gardens.
We now welcomed over 200,000 visitors a year and employ 342 dedicated staff members, many of whom have been with the company for years. Impressively, 12% of Shorefield employees have over 10 years of service, with some having been with the company for more than 30 years. This dedication speaks volumes about the family-oriented culture fostered here.
Reflecting on this significant milestone, Simon Pollock said, "It's been an incredible journey, and I'm immensely proud of what we've achieved as a family and a business. Shorefield Holidays has always been about creating special memories for our guests, and that remains our core mission.
We started as one small park and are now a thriving group of 8 holiday parks, each offering something unique to visitors, with a plethora of accommodation options. Our core family values are honesty, resilience and determination. These have certainly served us well over my 50 years of working at Shorefield, and I’m sure will do so for the next 50 years to come.”
In addition to the contributions to the holiday industry, we have been deeply involved in supporting local communities, creating jobs, sourcing from local businesses, and participating in various charitable initiatives. This commitment reflects Simon’s belief in giving back and ensuring that we continue to have a positive impact, not just on holidaymakers, but also on the local economy and our communities.
As Simon celebrates 50 years here, his legacy is evident in the company’s continued growth and the cherished memories created for our guests each year. We celebrated this milestone with a gala lunch for over 100 past and present colleagues, customers, business associates as well as friends and family.
