Sarah's Top Cleaning Tips

Dear Shorefield Country Park Ambassadors,

Our Housekeeping Manager Sarah would like to share some of her cleaning tips and tricks that you may find useful at home or in your holiday homes.

Homemade magic eraser

Simply dip a damp sponge into some dry baking soda and watch stains disappear from your hard surfaces. This also works well on mould and mildew.

Smelly shoes?

A few drops of essential oil on a piece of cotton wool will leave your shoes smelling much nicer by the morning.

De-scale your shower head

Put the shower head in a container of white vinegar and leave to soak overnight.

Degrease your extractor filter

Place filters in a bowl of boiling water and Oxi powder and they come out like new after just a few minutes.

De-carbonise your pans

Scrunch up some tin foil, put some washing up liquid and warm water in your pan and start scrubbing, it works as well as any metal scourer.

Boost your washing powders performance

By adding a cup of white vinegar to your wash. This de-odourises and softens your fabrics.

Use play doh or play slime

This is great for cleaning the nooks and crannies of your PC keyboard or areas such as car and caravan air vents.

Get rid of hoover odours

These can be eradicated by adding a few drops of essential oils to your vacuum cleaner filter.

And finally,

Freshen up your microwave

Place a bowl of water with a slice of lemon in your microwave and turn on until boiled, this not only leaves it smelling fresh but makes dried on food super easy to wipe off.

We hope these help and would love to hear any success stories on the owner's Facebook page.
