The south coast is the perfect place to enjoy a summer festival. Set against a backdrop of some of the UK’s most spectacular scenery, a number of events take place in Hampshire and Dorset throughout the summer, celebrating everything from food and music to walking and the arts. Our six parks in stunning locations across these two counties, puts you in the perfect spot to head out and enjoy all the fun of your chosen festival.
Bournemouth & Poole
Oakdene Forest Park, Forest Edge Holiday Park and Merley Court Holiday Park are all just a short distance from Bournemouth and Poole, where plenty of exciting festivals and events take place throughout the summer.
July 21st & 22nd
Music fans will love the International Beer and Bluegrass Festival in Branksome, with 18 hours of great music from some of the finest bluegrass musicians from the UK and the USA – and more than 35 real ales and ciders to try as you soak up the atmosphere.
August 31st to September 3rd
All the family will love the Bournemouth Air Festival. It is the UK’s biggest air show and covers a 1.5-mile stretch of coastline, whilst offering something for everyone on land, at sea, and in the air.
The New Forest
For folk lovers, the New Forest Folk Festival at Plaitford, on the edge of the forest is a small and friendly family-run festival that takes place on a working farm. There’s a big line-up of folk musicians and poets, along with Morris dancing displays and a series of workshops.
Smoked and Uncut is a popular two-day event offering a blend of high-quality local food, English sparkling wine, local ale and great live musical entertainment. The next event takes place at Lime Wood, just outside Lyndhurst, and is a relaxed festival that gives you the chance to unwind and enjoy the peaceful surroundings of the New Forest. Plus with names like The Kooks appearing on the line-up, it's bound to be an unmissable event of food and music!
Or head to Swanage Coastal Park, with its stunning sea views, and enjoy these festivals along the Jurassic Coast.
The 28th and final Swanage Jazz Festival will showcase most kinds of jazz, from New Orleans to contemporary sounds. Nearly 50 sessions will feature bands from across most of the spectrum of jazz, with lots of leading names and new faces.
With more than 100 events, the whole family can enjoy everything from the magnificent two-mile carnival procession to firework displays, art competitions, talent shows, treasure hunts and jaw-dropping stunt displays.
To make the most of the stunning scenery around you, the Swanage and Purbeck Walking Festival helps you discover the beautiful Isle of Purbeck, with an exciting range of walks for all ages and abilities. Ranging from Photography Walks to Historic trails, there's sure to be something to suit every interest.
