Year in Review - A roundup of 2018 at Shorefield Holidays
3rd January 2018
As 2018 moves into 2019, we're looking back at our sensational 60th year. Not only did we celebrate continued success with many tourism awards across our parks, our Finance Director and other employees also received further recognition and a range of nominations for their achievements.
Here's our most memorable highlights and some of the changes that have taken place throughout the last year here at Shorefield Holidays.
February | New Caravans at Oakdene Forest Park
February saw the introduction of yet more new accommodation to our parks. This time, we updated ALL our Statement Caravans and Supreme Caravans throughout Oakdene Forest Park, as well as introducing our brand new Sublime Hot Tub Caravans. It also means that no caravan on this site is more than a few years old! This follows a massive investment into new caravans at Shorefield Country Park in 2017.
March was an exciting time for us, as we were delighted to introduce Wilksworth Caravan Park to the Shorefield family. Situated in a beautiful part of Dorset, this park offers camping and touring holidays, but also has holiday homes available for ownership, as well as a stunning historical Grade II listed house.
But that's not all, as after major renovation and redevelopment, May also saw the official opening of Lavender House. Equipped with a private garden, cinema experience, hot tub and 6 bedrooms, it's our most luxurious property yet!
In April we teamed up with Tesla to introduce electric vehicle charging points at Shorefield Country Park, New Forest Lodge Retreat and Lavender House. We hope this move will help us to reduce our carbon footprint, with our commitment to the environment at the forefront of everything we do. Our EV parking bays are FREE to all our Ambassadors & Holiday Guests too!
In May we held our first ever beach clean. Members of the team headed to Milford on Sea beach to eliminate any waste that may have been left behind and help do our bit for the local environment.
Happy birthday to us! After our humble beginnings in 1958, July marked the official anniversary of our 60th year! We've thoroughly enjoyed welcoming every one of our guests over the years and are honoured to be able to help each of you make cherished family memories.
But that's not all that happened in July, as a very proud squirrel opened his very own milkshake and ice cream parlour. Cyril's Shake Shack offers a whole range of sweet treats, including gluten free waffles, and we just can't get enough of them!
October | First Ever Wave Weekender
September saw us introduce our first ever Wave Weekender, with the team from Wave 105 taking over our parks. Wave 105 presenters Rick Jackson, Tony Shepherd, Jo Rawlings and Michael Coombes bought the fun for an unforgettable weekend of entertainment.
November | Staff Celebrate Success at Awards
Our Staff Gala Awards were introduced to recognise outstanding staff at a glittering evening of celebration, and this year was no exception. Aimee Moody gained a place in the coveted Dr. Pollock Academy, which was set up to train and develop staff throughout their career here with Shorefield Holidays.
December | Outstanding Awards & Recognition
In December Sara Bertin, our Finance Director, was named runner-up for Business Woman of the Year (Large Business) at the National Business Women's Awards. This achievement goes alongside her 2017 win at the Women in Business Awards, as well as her nomination for the Corporate Leader of the Year at the National Business Women's Awards.
Not only this, but Lavender House achieved Silver for Self-Catering Accommodation of the Year at the Beautiful South Awards, marking yet another award for the business.
We are sure you'll agree that 2018 has been an epic year here at Shorefield Holidays. With 2019 already underway we can't wait to see what he year ahead holds!
