Swanage Blues Festival | 5th - 8th October 2017

3rd October 2017

The must-see blues festival on the Dorset Coast...

The Swanage Blues Festival takes place this weekend, from the 5th to the 8th October. One of the biggest parties in town, and a firm favourite in the calendar, the event takes over the idyllic seaside town in Dorset and showcases the best of the blues.

The festival first started in March 2001 as an annual celebration, but due to such huge popularity a second date was soon added. Now taking place twice throughout the year, this will be the 28th festival to take place and there will be an eclectic mix of over 60 fantastic gigs from 40 national and international blues acts over the 4 days.

A wide range of venues, restaurants and bars across Swanage play host to the festival, celebrating blues music in one of the UK’s most beautiful locations.

This year, acts such as Pete Harris & Hugh Budden will be opening the festival on the Thursday, with the likes of the Riverside Blues Band, The Milk Men, The Mustangs and more taking to the stage throughout the rest of the weekend.

Wristbands to show support for the October festival are only £10 for the full four days and can be purchased from a number of locations throughout Swanage. To find out more information on where to purchase these, as well as a full schedule of the acts across the weekend, be sure to take a look at the Swanage Blues Festival website.

Dates for next year’s event have already been confirmed, and the Swanage Blues Festival will return from the 1st-4th March 2018. As the event is so popular, we tend to sell out of accommodation at Swanage Coastal Park quite far in advance, so if you’re planning on attending next year’s event make sure to be quick before they’re all gone! Just a 20 minute walk from Swanage Town, it makes the ideal place from which to enjoy one of the finest celebrations of blues music.
