The summer may be coming to an end, but that doesn't mean the fun stops. There's still plenty of sunshine at the end of August and throughout September, as well as a whole host of events to go alongside it! Here are some of our favourites throughout Dorset & the New Forest that you just can't afford to miss...

Great Dorset Steam Fair | 23rd - 27th August

This typically British event offers a unique blend of nostalgia and entertainment! Soak up the festival atmosphere whilst admiring the iconic steam powered vehicles, or simply relax and enjoy the varied entertainment. There's something for the whole family, with demonstrations, stunt displays, a fairground and live music to name a few! This year the Great Dorset Steam Fair celebrates its 50th anniversary, meaning the event is set to be bigger and better than ever.

Bournemouth Air Festival | 30th August - 2nd September

Bournemouth Air Festival returns once again, offering something for everyone on land, at sea or in the air along a 1.5-mile stretch of Bournemouth’s award-winning coastline. Boasting the title of 'the UK’s biggest air show' this year's event will see displays from the Red Arrows, the RAF HC2 Chinook, the Super Pitts Muscle Plane, the Tigers Parachute Display Team, and the Brietling Jet Team and many more.

We'll also be there with our friends from Wave 105 with a Village Beach Bar directly under the main flight path! We'll also be taking a luxury Regal Artisan holiday home with us, as well as giving away a 3 night break to one lucky winner who comes to see us there. So there really is no excuse not to!

Swanage Folk Festival | 7th - 9th September

Running since September 1992, the Swanage Folk Festival is often described as a welcoming, happy and inspiring place. With a variety of folk music and family friendly entertainment, it's a much-loved local event. Why not take a look at the line up to see the great range of performers due to appear this year.

Swanage & Purbeck Walking Festival | 14th - 16th September

Something slightly different, the Swanage & Purbeck Walking Festival is ideal for those looking for a quieter event, full of exploration. It's no secret that walks along the Dorset coast are spectacular at any time of year, but throughout late September this walking festival gives you the opportunity to see more of this beautiful region. From a stroll alongside dinosaur footprints to the Purbeck 16 Challenge, there's something for all abilities and ages.

Ringwood Carnival | 15th September

The Ringwood Carnival hosts two incredible processions alongside street entertainers, live bands and a funfair. The children’s procession takes place in the afternoon, followed by the illuminated parade in the evening. Both feature community floats designed and built by local groups, clubs, schools, organisations and businesses, as well as groups of families and friends. This fantastic day out is rounded off with an unmissable fireworks display.

Of course, all these fantastic events are just a stone's throw from our Dorset & New Forest parks. Why not book a last minute break and make the most of some of these wonderful local events?
