60 years of Great British Breaks

The Shorefield Holidays Story

Spanning three generations, Shorefield Holidays is proud to be a family-run enterprise.

Shorefield Holidays has grown since its humble beginnings in 1958 and will be very proud to celebrate its 60th anniversary in 2018.

Family is at the core of the business, while embracing all the needs of a high-quality family holiday in the 21st century. Ever since our founder, Dr Robert Pollock, bought a worked-out gravel pit on the south coast in 1958 - because he couldn't find anywhere nice enough to pitch his holiday caravan - we've never lost sight of why people choose to spend their precious downtime with Shorefield.

The gravel pit was transformed into Shorefield Country Park and now beyond to seven parks located across Hampshire and Dorset, each with their own USPs and appealing to varying markets and demographics, we are proud to be a growing, forward-thinking business for the 21st century.

Our mission hasn't changed, we are a market leader and expert in the great British holiday.

Innovative and forward-thinking

We are proud to invest millions of pounds across our parks and facilities to keep them at the forefront of the family holiday offering and there are a number of other exciting projects in the pipeline for the year ahead.

We are proud to be a growing business, each year enhancing our offering. It was a success story for local entrepreneurship for the first eighteen years and has steadily expanded since 1982 when neighbouring caravan park, Seabreeze, was purchased.

Lytton Lawn Touring Park was purchased in 1988 and eight years later Oakdene Forest Park was acquired.

Forest Edge Holiday Park was bought in 2001 and in 2005 Priestway Holiday Park, later renamed as Swanage Coastal Park, was purchased.

Merley Court Holiday Park was added in 2006 and New Forest Lodge Retreat, formerly Kelston Holiday Park is the latest acquisition bought in 2017.

An award-winning business

Throughout our 60 years in business we are extremely proud to have won a string of prestigious awards for excellence and continue to receive praise. Our multiple gold David Bellamy Conservation Awards highlight our dedication to the flora and fauna that reside on our parks.

In 2016 and 2017 we picked up multiple accolades at the Hoseasons Awards, Shorefield Country Park was named South of England Family Fun Diamond Award Winner and Oakdene Forest Park was named South of England Relax and Explore Diamond Award Winner.

Shorefield Country Park was awarded a Silver in the category: Holiday Park of The Year at the Beautiful South Awards 2014, and then followed this up with the coveted Gold award at the 2015 awards.

Receiving the New Forest Brilliance in Business Award in 2014, runner up in 2016 and a further win in 2017, demonstrates the company’s reputation as an outstanding employer with high levels of achievement and a commitment to investing in the workforce, enterprise and innovation and reflects our high standards of customer care.
