Meet Cyril & Cybil

Hi there. We are Cyril & Cybil, mascots of Shorefield Holidays! We like to visit our friends at Shorefield Country Park and Oakdene Forest Park whenever we have time. Normally we pop in of an evening to say hello to our friends and make some new ones.

This is our story:

Once upon a time a kindly old gentleman was going for his customary evening stroll in the New Forest when he heard a very strange noise. He followed the noise for quite a while until he stumbled across a clearing in the woods. How unusual, he thought as he walked into the clearing, where have all the trees gone?

As he got closer he saw that the trees had been cut down. Since these were magnificent trees that had provided homes for lots of different animals, this made him feel sad. As he crossed the clearing he noticed something that shouldn’t be there. It looked like a little hill covered in fur. As he got closer he realised it wasn’t a hill but a couple of giant squirrels left homeless after their tree had been cut down.

The man wasn’t scared at all because the squirrels looked very friendly. As he got closer to them he saw that they had names sewn onto their clothes. One was a boy called Cyril and the other was a girl called Cybil.

It became clear to the man that what the squirrels needed was a new home, somewhere they could live in peace without fear of losing their home and make all sorts of new young friends. The man thought to himself and realised he knew about a place where they would get lots of love and attention and a beautiful new home.

He told the squirrels about this new place and they got very excited. It was quickly agreed that Cyril & Cybil the squirrels would get a new home in the woods between Shorefield Country Park and Oakdene Forest Park, a lovely place where they could make new friends every day.
